MBC ROUND UP – Week Ending 23/04/2022

MBC BOWLS ROUND UP – W/E 23/04/2022

Last Monday both teams enjoyed 6-2 victories: A Team winning at Abbey B whilst the B Team beat Ecclesfield B at home.  This week, the A Team are at home to Ecclesfield A whilst the B Team play away at Crookes Social.

In the Sheffield & Hallamshire League, both our teams tasted defeat with the A Team going down 7-3 away at Catcliffe whilst the B Team took a bit of a hammering away at Crookesmoor going down 9-1. Both teams will be hoping for an improvement this Tuesday with the A Team facing Bradfield B at home with the B Team visiting Richmond Park, both games 6.30pm start.

Our ladies got their season underway with a great team effort on a very quick & tricky green at Whitely Woods, eventually running out 6-3 winners in a match which was closer than the score suggests. Hopefully the good form will continue this Wednesday evening at MBC with Ecclesfield providing the opposition.

Our Vets Team also faced Whitely Woods earlier in the day in what was again at times a very close game but home advantage saw MBC run out 8-2 winners to maintain their fine start to the season. Likewise for the Presto Doubles on Friday when they take on Crookes Social A following another good win last week, this time against Nether Edge recording an 8-2 win.

Result & performance of the season so far for MBC was thanks to the A Team in Saturday’s Jackson League match against Bradfield A. Considering how close these teams have been over recent seasons it will have raised a few eyebrows to see MBC win the match 12-0. This coming Saturday they are away at Laycocks when some familiar faces will be in opposition.

Our B Team had a good win at Crookes Social eventually winning 7-5 in the Telegraph Cup. Not always the easiest of greens to play but they are on more familiar surroundings with a home game vs Crooksmoor A which starts at 5.00pm.

First up on Saturday however at 1.30pm our C Team will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Fitzwilliam Shield against Millhouses A after losing 8-4 away at Richmond last week.

Support is always welcome!
