New MBC Kit Range

2018 sees the arrival the new MBC kit range, courtesy of Pinders Schoolwear in Aston. Having worked closely with Richard Jackson at Pinders, as well as close communication with Mel Hobson and other members of the bowls committee, we have organised a range that will appeal to all ages and styles.

The new kit range also sees the return of the MBC coat of arms, which will be on the left chest, as well as the Wards logo on the right chest. All prices also include a name or nickname on the right sleeve.

Closure due to bad weather

Due to today’s bad weather, tonight’s snooker fixture at the club has been cancelled. We have taken the decision to close the club tonight to all members due to the poor traffic conditions and weather forecast.

Whilst we are closed tomorrow, an update will be provided on Friday morning regarding the opening hours for Friday evening and the weekend.

Receive Email Updates from MBC

Another new feature for our new website is for people to subscribe, meaning they receive email updates whenever we post to the website. We hope this makes it easier for all members to keep up to date with what goes on at our club.

How to subscribe

  1. Enter your email address in the box on the bottom menu and click ‘follow’.
  2. Go to your email, and click the link on the email you receive to confirm your subscription.
  3. When the link pops up, you can then close the window as you don’t have to change any of the settings.

If anybody having any problems with this process, or has any questions regarding regularity of emails and kinds of emails, please contact Adam Blackwell.

This week at MBC

This thread will show details of what is happening at MBC, both in the clubhouse as well as on the bowling green, every week over the coming bowls season. The new notice board outside the main door to the club will also have the same information on.

By making people more aware of all the different events that MBC host, we are hoping to make the club a more accessible, sociable place for all members, friends and family, as well as opposing teams and other guests. If there is anything else you want to see on this thread and the board on the club, or have any other suggestions for changes we are making to the club, please contact Adam Blackwell.

Winter Bowling Final

Congratulations to James Higgins for winning the Sheffield Winter Bowling League at MBC this afternoon, beating Debbie Whitworth 21-15 in a very well contested final.

Thank you to:

  • Calum Mailer for running the competition,
  • Margo Sinclair and Yvonne Hamilton for running the kitchen,
  • Mel Hobson, Mick Swift & Ken Doleman for cutting the green every week,
  • Everyone who has helped on the bar or helped in any way possible – all help has been greatly appreciated.

Tommo’s MBC Super Deal

I’m sure everyone will agree, Pete did an amazing job with the debut of his new gameshow, Tommo’s MBC Super Deal, a few weeks ago.

It was such a huge success that it’s back on Saturday 10th March! All the boxes are now reserved and paid for, with Pete organising the prizes again for what will be a fantastic night at the club.

The game starts at 8pm so be in early to get your seats. Other games on the night will include MBC Hi or Low Card and the Safe Cracker, which was won last time out by Amy Ainley – let’s see if anyone can break the code again and win the cash!

For any questions regarding the night, please contact Pete Tomlinson or use the contact form and he will get back in touch with you.

We hope to see as many people there as possible, lets support our club!

Selection Sheets

Just a quick reminder for all bowlers to write their names on the sheets on the notice board if they wish to play in an MBC team in the 2018 season. Alternatively, please contact Adam Blackwell or Mel Hobson to put yourself forward by Monday 26th February at the latest please.

MBC Race Night

Saturday night sees the return of the MBC race night. After the success of Tommo’s Super Deal a few weeks ago, its sure to be another good night at the club. First race starts at 8pm so be in early to get your seats, and prepare for other games like Hi or Low Card, Card Bingo as well as Safe Cracker! Amy Ainley proved the safe cracker can be done last week, see if anyone can win the jackpot this weekend as well.

For any queries about the night, please contact Pete Tomlinson who will be more than happy to answer any questions.
