Hi Everyone!
The green at MBC is coming on nicely, thanks to Jack and his team of Mick and Dave’s efforts and we are aiming to open the green mid March.
There is still some work to do so we are calling on our members to spare some time to help us finish the work around the green – general tidying up, painting of benches etc.
The green will only open once this work is completed.
The rest of this week & the weekend looks mostly dry 🤞🤞 so if anyone can come down and help it would be appreciated.
Please get in touch with Jack and he’ll let you know what needs doing 👍
Last year we were approached by SVE TV, the national Swedish TV channel, to help with filming footage for their popular TV travel quiz programme “På spåret” or “On the Right Track” to give it its English translation. We were more than happy to help out, and as part of the agreement and to help celebrate our 150th Anniversary I requested that we could have some footage as a keepsake to help with our special anniversary year.
Luckily for us SVE TV were happy to help with this, and I’m happy to share the edited results. Thankyou for everyone who helped us make this happen, and to SVE TV for an enjoyable experience and keepsake.

2025 Bowls Section Annual General Meeting – Tuesday 27th February @ 8pm
For members of the bowls section, a full attendance would be appreciated, please try your best to be in attendance. Team Captains, can all members new and existing be informed via message or WhatsApp groups.
Event 4 – Good Friday 18th April. 10:00 am onwards
One for your diaries! Join us for the fourth of our special events to commemorate our 150th Anniversary! This event will be a Fun Day on Good Friday, starting at 10am for all Members, and we want to see as many of you there as possible to support the 150th Anniversary Committee. They are doing a wonderful job organising and running these events to commemorate our special anniversary year.
The details for the day have yet to be finalised but once they are we’ll update you as soon as we can!
Event 3 – Friday 21st February. 19:30 onwards
Join us for the third of our special events to commemorate our 150th Anniversary! This event is for all our Members, and we want to see as many of you there as possible to support the 150th Anniversary Committee. They are doing a wonderful job organising and running these events to commemorate our special anniversary year. The previous events have all been a great success, so if you’ve not been able to join us at one yet, do try to attend so you don’t miss out on the fun!
On the night there’ll be discounted drinks once again, a music quiz, roulette, stand up & card bingo, raffle and a Grand National Sweepstake!

We are posting this information about 2025 membership a little earlier than usual, but there is some information from the recent AGM to make you all aware of.
Footfall and income was down slightly during 2024, and these schemes have been proposed by the Directors, and agreed at the AGM to help secure, and build on our recent successes.
**Please note** that your 2025 membership subscriptions will be due on January 1st. As passed at the AGM, please see details of the new membership subscription prices in the attached image and on notice boards in the Club.
Membership fees have remained as per last year. Due to the successful implementation of this scheme this year, there will once again be a £10 discount to members and shareholder members paying in January, and a £5 discount to those paying in February. The £10 joining fee for new members has once again been waived
This has been approved at the AGM again to give a little back to existing members and hopefully attract new members too. Also approved by the AGM to help attract new members, any new full members recruited before the 31st March 2025 will receive their membership for half price, along with the member proposing them.
Remember our members are our chief sales people and recruiters. If you might know anyone interested in joining please let them, and also all your clubmates know about the discounted membership fees and discount for for early payment.
Please remember that subscription payment by instalments may be available by request, as per Bye Law 2 (A copy of the Bye Laws is available in the club and on the website).
