This Sunday saw the finals of the South Yorkshire County Senior Merit played at Hallam Props, with a strong field on show it was MBC’s James Higgins who took home the trophy beating fellow teammate Andy Sorsby 21-16 in a fantastic final. Along with James both Aaron Williams and Andy Sorsby have qualified for the BCGBA All England Senior Championship to be played later in the year. A fantastic acheivement by all and one that we as a club are are very proud of you for. Well done guys!!

It is with great sadness we have to announce that Doug Burkhill passed away at home on Friday 31st May. As everyone knows Doug was a member of the club for many years, becoming a life member in 1988 in honour of his long service in a variety of roles including Director and President. I think we can safely speak for all our members young and old in sending our sincerest condolences to Doug’s family. Doug’s funeral will be held on Thursday 13th June at 11:15am at Hutcliffe Wood, then after everyone is welcome back to MBC to remember Doug and celebrate his life with his family and friends (from approx 12 noon).

Congratulations to Sue Hill who successfully defended the Ladies Vets Merit on Tuesday 4th June. Sue had a tough semi-final against Ros Westley who played well throughout their game, Sue managed to get over the finish line with a 21-20 result. In the final she played Barbra Baxter from Meersbrook Park and came through a 21-12 winner to claim the trophy for the second year running. Well done Sue.
