Fancy your five minutes of fame?
We have been contacted by a travel quiz show called “På spåret” (“On the right track”) broadcast on Swedish National Television.
“På spåret” is Sweden’s most popular broadcast TV show with approximately a quarter of the Swedish population watching every episode!
They are sending a team to Sheffield to do a segment about the city, and would love to include a piece about bowls. They found us through the Website and will be visiting to film us playing for an hour or so on Friday 31st May at approximately 6pm.
With our 150th Anniversary looming, we have secured any footage taken as a memento and keepsake to help document this. With this in mind we’d like as many as possible of all our members, bowlers or otherwise, to attend and join in the fun! Bring your families, wear your club shirts if you like, it’s up to you.
Let’s get this right and we can spotlight both the club we’re proud of, it’s history, and also spotlight the sport we love at the same time!

As the 2023 / 2024 Poker League was an even bigger success than usual this time round, we are pleased to be hosting a poker ‘head hunter’ league during the summer and early autumn before the main event returns. Details of dates are below, if you are interested please see Tommo for info.

MBC are hosting The Sheffield Wednesday Night Snooker League Presentation Night & Singles Knockout Final, details as follows:
Come and join us for the return of MBC Race Night!!
Saturday 18th May at 8pm.
Usual mix of racing; flat, ‘over the sticks’ and Greyhounds.
If you’re feeling lucky come along and have a flutter! The racing will be followed by ‘Safe Cracker’ and HiLo cards.
Come and support these nights as they go from strength to strength! Plenty of fun and prizes to be had!

Just a couple of quick updates as the start of the bowls season is now upon us:
The Bowls Fees list is now up on the notice board at the Club, so please make sure you pay before the first games. This can be either cash (preferable) to either Sarah, Jack or Lisa in person or over the bar. Alternatively payment to Lisa via bank transfer to the following.

Monday 8th April: MBC A v Colley A, 6pm
Wednesday 10th April: MBC v Maltby (Wath League), 7pm start but could change to 6.30pm due to light
Saturday 13th April: MBC B v Maltby, 1.30pm
Any support is always welcome!
Also we’re pleased to tell you that a range of sandwiches will be on sale for the Saturday fixtures this season! More details to follow!

Please note that the club will reopen on Mondays from April 1st. We will monitor Thursday night opening for the time being as attendance at this time last year was poor on Thursdays, but this should be a short wait as we wait for bowls fixtures become known for Thursdays. We will update you as soon as possible.
